How to get a Japanese phone number
- By Admin
Some sites in Japan, such as Mercari, Yahoo, and many others, will only allow you to use a Japanese phone number to verify. When you're in a foreign country, it's not easy to get a native phone number. Usually, they require residency, a Japanese passport, and many other things that you may not have access to.
That's why SMSPool is now introducing Japanese phone numbers on our platform. This will allow you to verify any service (except financial services) in Japan without the hassle of providing identification. All you need is a phone and a balance on SMSPool, which can be obtained through a credit/debit card or crypto.
Why can't I get a Japanese phone number in Japan?
Services offered in Japan usually only cater to Japanese residents, meaning you need to prove that you live in Japan as a resident. Most visitors to Japan cannot provide such details, and it's usually not worth the hassle. Even if they provide SIM cards or eSIMs at the airport, these subscriptions are generally only for mobile data and do not provide a phone number.
What if I need a data-only eSIM?
SMSPool also provides data-only Japanese eSIMs for the lowest market rates possible. These plans usually last up to 30 days and are less than 80 cents per GB. You can purchase Japanese eSIMs here.
How can I get a Japanese phone number?
At SMSPool, we offer high-quality Japanese phone numbers provided by the leading carriers in Japan, such as NTT Docomo. These numbers are non-VoIP, so they guarantee that you can verify any required service. You can start by heading to the deposit page to top up your balance.
If your balance is topped up, head over to the Order page, which can be found on the left side of your navigation bar. Then select “Japan” as a country and choose the site you wish to verify. If the selected site on SMSPool does not match the site you're verifying, it will not work.
After configuring your order, press “Purchase,” and a non-VoIP Japanese phone number should appear. Copy this onto the site you are attempting to verify, and send out the code. Within 60 seconds, the code from the site should display, and you'll be able to use it to confirm.
What if I need to verify my Japan service again?
Our numbers are usually held within our system for 5 days, but the numbers you purchase are often temporary phone numbers that do not remain long. We recommend using our phone numbers only for temporary services you will not need to access later. In case the number is still available, feel free to use our free Resend service.
