Wolt SMS Verification

Wolt requires SMS verification at signup to make sure you are a real person, and there is no way to skip it. If you would rather not hand over your personal phone number for privacy reasons, the fix is to get a non-VoIP number from SMSPool. In this guide we cover what Wolt is, why your code isn't arriving, how to fix it, and how to receive the code on one of our phone numbers.

Get a number for Wolt

What is Wolt?

Wolt is a food and grocery delivery service based in Helsinki, Finland, owned by DoorDash since 2022. You can order from local restaurants and shops through the app or website and a courier brings it to you, usually within 30 minutes. Wolt operates in around 30 countries across Europe and beyond, including the UK, Germany, Japan and much of the Nordics and Baltics.

Why Wolt asks for a phone number

Wolt requires a phone number to help make sure you are a real person when signing up and to stop bots and spammers mass-creating accounts. It is a one time SMS verification, so once you are verified, Wolt will not keep asking you to verify the number. New device logins are handled through your email instead of your phone number.

Why your Wolt verification code might not be sending

If your Wolt SMS verification code is not arriving, it is usually one of the below:

  • You have used a VoIP phone number to register. Wolt requires a number from a real mobile carrier and will reject VoIP or internet numbers.
  • The number is from a country Wolt does not serve. Pick one from a country where Wolt operates.
  • The country or phone number format is wrong. A missing country code or extra spaces will stop the SMS code delivery.
  • You have requested too many codes. Spamming the resend option triggers a temporary rate limit, so Wolt stops sending codes for a while.
  • The code has expired. Verification codes usually expire within 5 minutes, so an old one will not work.

How to fix Wolt SMS verification code not sending

Please try the following:

  • Check that the phone number is entered correctly. Make sure the correct country is selected, digits only, no spaces or symbols.
  • Request the code once only and wait 60 to 120 seconds.
  • Do not keep spamming the resend option, as that just triggers rate limits.
  • If the phone number keeps failing, order a new one.

How to verify Wolt with a temporary number

A temporary phone number keeps your personal number off the account, which is the main reason to use one. You get the code, verify, and your real number never gets used by Wolt, which keeps things private.

Here is how to get verified in a few minutes:

Step 1: Create an SMSPool account. Go to SMSPool.net. Registration is fast and does not even require an email address if you would rather not use one.

Step 2: Add funds to your balance. Go to the Deposit page and add credit to your account. Wolt verifications are low cost, so we would suggest adding $3 to get started.

Step 3: Order a phone number for Wolt. Go to the Order page. Choose a country that Wolt supports, then search for and select Wolt as the service. If you want to test it first without spending anything, the free Wolt SMS page lets you do that.

Step 4: Complete the purchase. Click the Quick Purchase button. SMSPool will generate a real, non-VoIP phone number for you within seconds.

Step 5: Verify your Wolt account. Enter the phone number into the Wolt signup or login screen and request the code. When the code arrives in your SMSPool dashboard, copy it and enter it on Wolt before it expires.

Why a temporary number suits Wolt

Wolt only needs the phone number once, when you sign up. After that, login OTPs are handled through your email, so there is no reason to hand over your personal number.

A temporary phone number keeps your personal number private and saves you from any marketing texts Wolt might send. For a signup you just want done, it is the cleanest option.

FAQ

Does Wolt require a phone number to sign up? Yes. Wolt always asks for a phone number and sends an SMS verification code to verify it. You cannot create an account without verifying a phone number.

Does Wolt accept VoIP numbers? No. Wolt checks that the number is from a genuine mobile carrier and rejects VoIP or internet numbers. You need a real non-VoIP number.

Why is my Wolt verification code not sending? Usually because you are using a VoIP number, a number from a country Wolt does not serve, the wrong country or format, too many resend attempts, or an expired code.

Can I use a temporary phone number for Wolt? Yes. A temporary non-VoIP number verifies you at signup and keeps your personal number private.

Will Wolt ask for the phone number again after signup? Not usually. The SMS check is for signup. New device logins are handled through your email, so the number should be a one time step.

Does the number's country matter? Yes. Use a number from a country where Wolt operates, ideally matching the region you will be ordering from, or the code may not be sent.

Is it safe to give Wolt my real phone number? It works, but there is no need. A temporary number keeps your personal number off the account and avoids the marketing texts that come with it.
