Getting Started with SMSPool

New to SMSPool? This guide walks you through everything from setting up your account to ordering your first phone number, plus the key terms you will run into along the way. By the end you will know exactly how the platform works and which option is right for you.

What is SMSPool?

SMSPool acts as a middleman for your phone verifications. Instead of handing your personal phone number to every service you sign up for, you use one of ours. We use real non-VoIP numbers, which means they behave like genuine mobile numbers and work with almost any service that asks you to verify by SMS.

We respect your privacy. We do not log IP addresses, we do not use trackers or analytics, and we are fully VPN and TOR friendly.

Setting up your account

Signing up takes seconds. An email address is not required, although adding one makes account recovery much easier if you ever lose access.

Once you are logged into SMSPool, head to the Deposit page to add funds. We accept:

We do not accept PayPal and this will not be added as a payment method in the future.

The three products we offer

One-time SMS: These are temporary numbers which are intended for a single SMS verification. This is what most people need. Numbers usually last up to 24 hours, and US Foxtrot pool numbers can last 3 to 5 days.

Long-term rental: These are long-term phone numbers that you can keep for a month or longer by extending it. Use this if you need ongoing access to the same number, for example to receive repeat codes over time.

eSIM: A data-only eSIM for mobile data abroad or at home. Please note these do not come with a phone number and are data only.

If you just need to verify an account once, go with one-time SMS.

How to order your first number

  1. Select the Order option on the left-hand side
  2. Choose the Country you'd like to use, for example, the USA.
  3. After selecting the country, select the Service you'd like to verify your number with.
  4. Type the name of your desired service into the search bar, for example, 'Perplexity'.
  5. Click the Quick Purchase button and wait for the number to be assigned to you.
  6. Go to the app or website of the service you selected and enter the number you received from SMSPool, then wait for the verification code.
  7. When you receive the code on SMSPool, paste it into the service to complete the verification process.

Note that you only pay for the phone number once you successfully receive a code, so there is no risk in attempting multiple numbers.

Key terms you should know

A few terms you should take note of before using SMSPool:

  • Service: The website or app you are verifying for e.g. select Discord if you wish to verify Discord.
  • Pool: Each pool is an independent number supplier. Some services work better with certain pools, but we recommend leaving this on the Highest success rate (This is the default) and automatically picks the best pool for you.
  • Stock: The number of numbers available for the country and service you selected.
  • Activating: This means all ports on our modems are in use and your number is waiting for one to free up. This usually takes about a minute. Wait until it changes to the Pending Status before requesting your code, otherwise it may not come through.
  • Resend: This feature allows you to attempt to receive another code to the same number. Resends are not guaranteed, and you are charged 50% of the order total after four successful resends.
  • Reactivate: This feature allows you to a number that never received a code. Only available for US Foxtrot pool numbers, you will be charged at full value, and non-refundable.

How long numbers last and reusing them

Most phone numbers stay in our system for up to 24 hours. US Foxtrot pool numbers usually last 3 to 5 days, though this is not guaranteed. If you need a guaranteed method of ensuring you maintain access to a phone number, purchase a long-term rental.

If you need another code on a number you already used, try the resend option both on SMSPool and on the service itself. You can resend up to 25 times, but remember that there is a 50% charge for every four successful resends. Note that once a temporary number's lifespan ends it is permanently disposed of and cannot be recovered.

What you can and cannot verify

We allow most services. The main exceptions are:

  • Financial services and crypto exchanges
  • Government websites
  • Telecom carriers
  • Identity verification services

Outbound calling and sending SMS are not supported. Our numbers are for receiving verification codes only. If the service you want isn't listed on our site, please use the Not Listed option, though the same restrictions still apply.

Refunds

You can request a refund on your balance as long as you deposited within the last 14 days and the balance has not been partially spent. eSIMs are non-refundable.

To request a refund, please open a ticket on our website via help.smspool.net.
