Kleinanzeigen (formerly eBay Kleinanzeigen) is Germany's biggest classifieds site, where Germans buy and sell everything from furniture and bikes to electronics and cars. Prices are often far below what you'd pay through an exporter.

Registering on Kleinanzeigen usually requires a German or Dutch phone number, and this is the site people get stuck on. A foreign number is usually rejected at signup, so a UK, US or other EU number won't get you through. Once you're verified you can browse listings, message sellers and arrange a forwarding service to get items shipped abroad.
